Kuwait Cabinet Condemns Houthi Attacks on Saudi Arabia

Jarida Report

KUWAIT CITY: Kuwait’s Cabinet has condemned reported Houthi attacks targeting Saudi Arabia, including airports in Riyadh, Dammam and Abha, expressing solidarity with the Kingdom and calling for international action to prevent further attacks.

In a statement issued after its weekly meeting chaired by Prime Minister Sheikh Ahmad Abdullah Al-Ahmad Al-Sabah, the Cabinet described the attacks as violations of Saudi Arabia’s sovereignty and international law. It also offered condolences to the victims’ families and wished those injured a speedy recovery.

The Cabinet stressed that Saudi Arabia’s security was closely linked to that of Kuwait and other Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) states. It called for those responsible for the attacks to be held accountable.

The meeting also covered regional diplomatic efforts, including discussions between Kuwait and Iraqi officials on bilateral relations and regional developments. Kuwait reiterated its support for Yemen’s internationally recognised government and called for respect for the country’s sovereignty and territorial integrity.

Separately, Kuwait’s representative to the United Nations in Geneva condemned attacks on civilian infrastructure and commercial shipping, highlighting their potential economic, humanitarian and security consequences. He called for diplomatic efforts to reduce tensions.

The developments come amid escalating regional tensions. Saudi officials have warned of consequences for repeated attacks, while the Saudi-led coalition has urged civilians to evacuate a facility in Sanaa ahead of a possible operation. Houthi military spokesman Yahya Saree, meanwhile, threatened a response to any Saudi attack on the Yemeni capital.

Egypt has also called on the Houthis to halt attacks and pursue diplomatic solutions. Meanwhile, OPEC+ ministers have raised concerns over rising shipping and insurance costs linked to disruptions along international maritime routes.
