KARACHI: K-Electric has introduced additional nighttime load-shedding in several parts of Karachi, citing power theft and system losses, leaving residents facing longer electricity outages.
According to reports, the utility is cutting power for an additional two to three hours at night in affected localities, adding to the difficulties of consumers already dealing with frequent power outages.
The affected areas include New Karachi, Manghopir, Lyari, Pak Colony, Jacob Lines, Lasbela, Shah Faisal, Manzoor Colony, Korangi, Orangi Town, Qasba Colony, Gadap, Scheme-33, Safoora Goth, Banaras Colony, Liaquatabad, Martin Quarters, North Karachi and several other neighbourhoods.
The additional outages have raised concerns among residents who pay their electricity bills but live in areas affected by alleged power theft and system losses. These consumers are also experiencing extended nighttime disruptions.
