NADRA Says Pensions Will Not Be Stopped Over Missing Proof-of-Life Certificates

Jarida Report

The National Database and Registration Authority (NADRA) has clarified that pension payments will not be suspended solely because pensioners failed to obtain a proof-of-life certificate through NADRA in September.

The clarification follows concerns among retired employees that failure to secure the certificate could result in their pension payments being stopped.

Speaking during a podcast, NADRA Public Information Officer Syed Shabahat Ali said the government had decided that the absence of a NADRA-issued proof-of-life certificate would not, by itself, be grounds for suspending a pension.

According to the official, the decision applies to retirees from a range of institutions, including former Army and other armed forces personnel, as well as retired federal and provincial government employees.

He added that pensioners from institutions that have not yet approached NADRA to use its proof-of-life certification services would similarly not have their payments stopped for failing to obtain the certificate.

NADRA has been coordinating with relevant institutions to make proof-of-life verification more accessible to pensioners, including through digital services.

The clarification is intended to reassure pensioners, particularly elderly retirees, that not having a NADRA-issued proof-of-life certificate does not automatically mean their pension will be withheld.
