Jarida Report

Pakistan and Russia are expected to sign a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) aimed at strengthening cooperation against corruption and money laundering on November 6, according to Pakistan’s National Accountability Bureau (NAB).

The development followed a meeting between NAB Chairman Lt Gen (retd) Nazir Ahmed and Russian Ambassador to Pakistan Albert P. Khorev, during which the two sides discussed institutional transparency, anti-corruption frameworks and other matters of mutual interest.

According to NAB, the meeting resulted in an understanding that the agreement would be signed between Pakistan’s National Accountability Bureau and the Prosecutor General’s Office of Russia.

The signing ceremony is expected to take place in Moscow on November 6.

The proposed agreement is intended to provide a framework for greater institutional coordination between Pakistan and Russia in combating corruption and money laundering, while strengthening cooperation between the relevant authorities of the two countries.

During the meeting, Ambassador Khorev reiterated Russia’s commitment to strengthening constructive dialogue and institutional collaboration with Pakistan.

The two sides also discussed measures to improve cooperation in areas of transparency and anti-corruption, with the planned MoU expected to formalise and expand coordination between their respective institutions.
