Khwaja Fareed University of Engineering and Information Technology (KFUEIT) has formed an inquiry committee after screenshots and allegations involving the alleged harassment of a female student by a university lecturer circulated on social media.
According to claims shared online, the student alleged that the lecturer sent her inappropriate messages, pressured her to meet him and threatened her with academic consequences if she refused.
She further alleged that she was offered improved marks and grades and was repeatedly contacted through WhatsApp messages, SMS and telephone calls.
The student claimed she had retained records of the alleged communications and had also brought the matter to the attention of the university’s vice chancellor through email.
The allegations have not been independently verified.
Responding to the controversy, KFUEIT said it was aware of reports and claims circulating on social media concerning students and faculty members. The administration, however, said it had not received a formal written complaint from any student regarding the matter.
Despite the absence of a formal complaint, the university said it had constituted an inquiry committee to establish the facts. The committee will examine the screenshots, available information and other relevant records before submitting its recommendations to the administration.
KFUEIT said that if a formal written complaint was received from a student or another relevant person, the allegations would be investigated under the university’s applicable rules and procedures.
The administration added that necessary action would be taken if the inquiry established that a violation had occurred.
KFUEIT reiterated that maintaining a safe, healthy and conducive academic environment for students remained a priority and said issues concerning student safety and academic standards would be addressed in accordance with university regulations.
