Punjab Launches Green Credit Programme Offering Rs20,000 Reward for Cycling

Jarida Report

The Punjab government has launched the Punjab Green Credit Program, offering residents Green Credits worth Rs20,000 for completing specified environmentally friendly activities, including cycling.

Under the cycling initiative, participants are required to travel at least 75 kilometres and record the journey through the CM Punjab Green Credit Program Tracker App.

Once the required distance has been completed, participants must submit a photograph of their bicycle along with evidence of the recorded journey through the programme’s online portal.

The supporting information must be submitted through an MRV form, which provides the mechanism for recording and verifying that the required activity has been completed.

According to the government, the programme was initially introduced in Lahore before being expanded across Punjab.

The initiative aims to encourage residents to participate in activities that benefit the environment, while digital tracking is used to verify participation and determine eligibility for Green Credits.

Cycling has been included because of its environmental and health benefits. Participants who successfully complete the required distance and provide the necessary evidence can receive Green Credits valued at Rs20,000.

The programme promotes the initiative with the slogan: “Cycle, save the environment and earn a reward.”
