The US military carried out a lethal strike on a high-speed vessel in the Caribbean Sea on Saturday, killing four people it described as “narco-terrorists,” according to US Southern Command (SOUTHCOM).
SOUTHCOM said the operation was conducted by Joint Task Force Western Hemisphere against a vessel travelling along what the military described as established drug-trafficking routes.
“On September 19, under the direction of #SOUTHCOM, Joint Task Force Western Hemisphere executed a lethal, kinetic strike on a go-fast vessel operating along established narco-trafficking routes in the Caribbean,” the command said in a post on X.
“The operation killed four narco-terrorists,” it added.
According to SOUTHCOM, intelligence gathered before the operation indicated that the vessel was actively involved in drug trafficking.
The description of those killed as “narco-terrorists” and the assessment that the vessel was engaged in drug trafficking were provided by the US military.
