Riyadh: The United Kingdom has reaffirmed its solidarity with Saudi Arabia following attacks by Yemen’s Houthi militia, during a telephone conversation between the two countries’ foreign ministers on Saturday.
Saudi Foreign Minister Prince Faisal bin Farhan received a call from UK Foreign Secretary Edward Miliband, with the two officials discussing the latest developments in the region.
During the conversation, Miliband reiterated Britain’s solidarity with Saudi Arabia following the Houthi attacks and affirmed the Kingdom’s right to take necessary measures to protect its security and capabilities in accordance with international law.
The two foreign ministers also emphasised the need for coordinated efforts to safeguard freedom of navigation in regional waterways.
They stressed that maintaining the security of key shipping routes was essential for regional stability and for protecting global trade and supply chains from disruptions caused by the continuing crisis.
