Chief of Defence Forces and Chief of Army Staff Field Marshal Syed Asim Munir visited Pakistan Ordnance Factories (POF) in Wah on Saturday to review its production capabilities, export potential and ongoing efforts to expand indigenous defence manufacturing.
According to the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR), the army chief was briefed on POF’s operations and its contribution to Pakistan’s defence industrial base through the domestic development and production of a range of military equipment.
During the visit, Field Marshal Munir witnessed tests and trials of locally designed and manufactured arms and ammunition. ISPR said the activities reflected POF’s focus on technological innovation, greater self-reliance and strengthening domestic defence production.
The field marshal was also briefed on progress towards the corporatisation of POF following the enactment of the DIPRA Ordinance, as well as measures aimed at modernising its industrial infrastructure.
As part of these efforts, two new industrial plants are being installed and are expected to begin production by the end of the year, according to ISPR. The facilities form part of broader indigenisation and upgradation initiatives underway at the complex.
POF, based in Wah, is Pakistan’s largest defence industrial complex and produces arms, ammunition and other equipment for the country’s armed forces as well as export markets.
ISPR said the visit reflected the military leadership’s emphasis on expanding indigenous production, technological innovation and self-reliance within Pakistan’s defence sector.
