Israeli occupiers were responsible for nearly 89% of fires targeting Palestinian homes, buildings and vehicles in the occupied West Bank since the beginning of 2023, according to a report by the Palestinian Colonization and Wall Resistance Commission.
The commission said it documented 900 fires involving Palestinian property between January 2023 and July 10, 2026. Of these, 799 — or 88.8% — were attributed to Israeli occupiers, while 101 were attributed to the Israeli military.
Recorded incidents increased from 217 in 2023 to 264 in 2024, before rising to 307 in 2025. Another 112 fires were documented between January and July 10 this year.
The Nablus and Ramallah and al-Bireh governorates were the worst affected, recording 281 and 271 incidents respectively. Together, the two areas accounted for more than 61% of all fires documented during the period.
The commission said the same period saw 121 Palestinian communities fully or partially displaced, including 46 communities that were completely emptied.
More than 6,200 Palestinians were forced from their homes, including over 3,000 children, according to the report.
The commission alleged that the attacks had been encouraged by what it described as a “government environment of enablement”, which it said provided protection to Israeli occupiers and contributed to a climate of impunity.
It also said illegal Israeli settlement outposts were increasingly being used as bases for attacks on surrounding Palestinian communities, including arson, road blockades and actions restricting access to agricultural land and water sources.
Israeli settlements in the occupied West Bank are considered illegal under international law, a position rejected by the Israeli government.
