A 12-year-old girl was allegedly sexually assaulted by a pir during a visit to his premises in Chakwal for spiritual healing, according to her family, which has registered a case with police.
The girl had reportedly accompanied her siblings to the premises to receive dumm, a form of spiritual healing, when the alleged assault occurred.
According to the girl’s account, the suspect allegedly threatened her with a firearm before sexually assaulting her. She further alleged that he threatened to kill her if she disclosed the incident.
The victim’s family subsequently approached police and lodged a case against the suspect.
Further details regarding the charges and whether the accused has been arrested were not immediately available.
The case follows previous allegations involving individuals accused of exploiting spiritual healing practices to target women and girls.
In a separate case on June 22, police in Lahore’s Harbanspura area arrested a man identified as Abdul Rauf, whom authorities described as a fake pir, over allegations that he attempted to sexually assault women while posing as a spiritual healer.
Police said the suspect had entered a home on the pretext of performing dumm and allegedly persuaded other family members to leave the room before behaving inappropriately towards a woman who remained inside.
A case was subsequently registered on the complaint of the woman’s brother and the suspect was taken into custody.
