Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif has been invited by the Nobel Sustainability Trust (NST) to participate in its global sustainability initiatives and future international summits.
The invitation was extended by NST Chairman Peter Nobel in a letter dated August 22, in which the organisation said it would be “deeply honored” to welcome the chief minister to its future international engagements and global sustainability summits.
The Trust said it had followed with “great interest” the Punjab government’s initiatives under Maryam’s leadership in areas including climate resilience, environmental protection, wildlife conservation, forestry, ecosystem restoration and air quality management.
“These initiatives reflect a forward-looking vision for sustainable development and have made a meaningful contribution to Pakistan’s environmental progress and long-term resilience,” the letter said.
The NST also highlighted the Punjab government’s emphasis on data-driven climate policies and technology-enabled governance, including the use of digital monitoring systems, geospatial analytics and remote sensing.
It further praised the application of artificial intelligence, environmental data platforms and evidence-based decision-making in addressing environmental and climate-related challenges.
The invitation provides an opportunity for the Punjab government to engage with international sustainability leaders and share its environmental initiatives at future global forums.
