Norway will provide 85 billion Norwegian krone ($9.2 billion) in military and civilian assistance to Ukraine in 2027, Prime Minister Jonas Gahr Store announced on Sunday during a visit to Kyiv.
“Norway will continue to support Ukraine’s defense struggle,” Store said, according to Norwegian broadcaster NRK. “We are sending a clear signal that Norway will continue to stand by, both civilian and military.”
Of the total package, 70 billion krone ($7.5 billion) will go towards military assistance, while another 15 billion krone ($1.6 billion) will be allocated for civilian support.
The commitment means Norway will provide 85 billion krone in annual assistance to Ukraine for the third consecutive year.
Store arrived in Kyiv on Sunday alongside leaders from several Nordic and Baltic countries, reaffirming their support for Ukraine amid the continuing war with Russia.
“Every day, the Ukrainian people live with the consequences of Russia’s brutal war,” Store said.
He accused Russia of escalating missile and drone attacks against Ukrainian cities and critical infrastructure, saying civilians were being “systematically targeted.”
“At the same time, Ukraine continues its fight for freedom, independence and the right to determine its own future,” Store said. “Therefore, it is important that Norway continues to stand with the Ukrainians.”
During his visit, the Norwegian prime minister is expected to attend a Ukraine-Nordic-Baltic summit, participate in events marking Ukraine’s National Flag Day and hold talks with senior Ukrainian officials.
