Five people are missing and eight others were injured after a major fire destroyed a restaurant in the Swiss town of Thusis on Thursday night, according to local media.
Nearly 100 firefighters were deployed to tackle the blaze in Switzerland’s Alpine canton of Graubunden.
Fourteen people managed to escape from the burning building. Eight suffered injuries and received emergency medical treatment, with two reported to be in critical condition.
Emergency crews continued working at the site following the fire as authorities searched for the five people who remained unaccounted for.
Graubunden cantonal police and the public prosecutor’s office have launched an investigation to determine what caused the blaze.
Authorities said the investigation could take several days before further information about the fire and the missing people becomes available.
