Israeli Forces Raid Qalandiya Camp, Restrict Movement and Dawn Prayers

Jarida Report

Israeli forces carried out a large-scale raid on Qalandiya refugee camp and the nearby town of Kafr Aqab, north of occupied East Jerusalem, early Wednesday, imposing strict restrictions, including preventing dawn prayers at mosques in the camp, according to the Jerusalem Governorate.

In a series of statements, the governorate said Israeli forces enforced a curfew in Kafr Aqab and deployed large numbers of military vehicles throughout the area.

It also said Israeli troops barred worshippers from attending Fajr prayers at all mosques in Qalandiya and sent text messages to residents announcing the start of a large-scale military operation in the camp.

According to an Anadolu correspondent, Israeli forces also arrested the father of Laith al-Shawani, who was previously killed, while an Israeli military vehicle reportedly ran over a young Palestinian near the camp. No immediate information was available on his condition.

Israeli forces conduct frequent raids across the occupied West Bank, including East Jerusalem, where Palestinians seek to establish the capital of a future independent state.

According to official Palestinian figures, more than 1,182 Palestinians have been killed, around 13,000 injured, and nearly 24,000 arrested in the occupied West Bank, including East Jerusalem, since the start of the Gaza war in October 2023.

Palestinian officials say the operations have also involved home demolitions, destruction of farmland, restrictions on access to agricultural land, forced displacement and settlement expansion, warning that such measures are intended to pave the way for the annexation of parts of the occupied West Bank.
