A senior leader of the proscribed Joint Awami Action Committee (JAAC) on Saturday urged voters in Muzaffarabad Division to participate actively in the second phase of the 2026 Azad Jammu and Kashmir (AJK) Legislative Assembly elections by casting their ballots on Sunday, August 2.
In a video message, Raja Saeed Amjad, a core member of the banned outfit, encouraged residents to take part in the democratic process, saying the people of Muzaffarabad Division should, like those in Mirpur Division, choose their representatives through the ballot box.
“The enthusiastic participation of voters in the first phase of the AJK elections reflects that the people of Kashmir believe in the democratic process,” he said.
The second phase of polling will be held across the general constituencies of Muzaffarabad Division, alongside elections for 12 reserved seats allocated to Kashmiri refugees.
In the first phase of the elections, the Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) emerged as the largest party, winning nine of the 13 seats in Mirpur Division. The AJK Election Commission has since officially notified the successful candidates following completion of the legal process.
