The South Korean men’s national hockey team has arrived in Islamabad ahead of a four-match FIH-approved international test series against Pakistan, the Pakistan Hockey Federation (PHF) announced on Tuesday.
The PHF described the visit as a significant milestone, marking the first time in nearly 20 years that an international hockey team has toured Pakistan for an official bilateral series.
The four-test series will be played in Islamabad on July 30, Aug. 2, Aug. 4 and Aug. 7, and is expected to provide valuable international competition for both teams as they prepare for upcoming major tournaments.
PHF President Mohyuddin Ahmad Wani welcomed the visiting team, calling the tour an important step in the revival of international hockey in Pakistan.
“This is a proud and memorable occasion for Pakistan hockey. After almost two decades, we are once again welcoming an international team to our home grounds,” Wani said.
He added that the series would strengthen the longstanding friendship between Pakistan and South Korea while promoting high-quality international hockey.
The PHF also thanked the Government of Pakistan, security agencies and other stakeholders for supporting arrangements that made the tour possible.
