A cloudburst triggered devastating flash floods in the Thor area of Chilas, causing extensive damage to homes, crops, livestock and infrastructure.
In Thor Mek, floodwaters inundated a local mosque, while other parts of Thor were hit by a sudden torrent that swept down from the surrounding mountains.
The flooding washed away a residential house, household belongings, livestock and a vehicle. According to local sources, nearly 200 grams of placer gold and cash were also lost in the flood.
Floodwater and debris entered several homes, while roads linking Thor to surrounding areas were washed away, leaving the affected communities cut off.
Agricultural land in Thor Shaitan and Thor Mek also suffered heavy damage, with standing crops destroyed by the flash floods.
According to local sources, residents have begun relief efforts on a self-help basis. However, damaged road infrastructure is hampering access to the affected areas and creating difficulties for both residents and rescue teams.
