Australian PM Calls for Transparent Probe into Chakwal Shooting

Jarida Report

Australian Prime Minister Anthony Albanese has called for a transparent and thorough investigation into the death of nine-year-old Australian national Hania Ahmed, who was killed during a police shooting incident in Pakistan’s Punjab province.

Hania was visiting Pakistan with her family when the tragedy occurred in Chakwal on June 10. The family was reportedly caught up in an armed robbery incident before law enforcement officers allegedly opened fire on their vehicle.

Speaking to reporters in Canberra, Albanese said the circumstances surrounding the girl’s death must be fully examined.

“These circumstances do need to be examined. They need to be examined in a transparent way, so that everyone can know, the family, most importantly, but others as well,” Albanese said.

“Australia expects there to be transparency and a proper investigation of these circumstances,” he added.

The incident has attracted attention in both Pakistan and Australia, with Pakistani authorities already launching an investigation into the fatal shooting.
