Lebanese Army Pulls Back From Southern Base as Israeli Forces Advance

Jarida Report

The Lebanese Armed Forces withdrew troops from a military position in southern Lebanon on Saturday after Israeli forces advanced in a nearby area, according to a military official.

The development came as the Israeli Army issued evacuation warnings for around 20 locations, including the southern city of Nabatiyeh and surrounding villages.

The withdrawal involved an army barracks in Kfar Tebnit, amid growing military activity in the region.

Analysts and regional observers suggest Israel may be seeking to strengthen its position on the ground as efforts continue to secure a broader agreement involving the United States and Iran, a deal that could also have implications for Lebanon.

Lebanon’s state-run National News Agency reported Israeli airstrikes on several villages near Nabatiyeh on Saturday, including an attack in Deir al-Zahrani that reportedly killed two people. The agency also said Nabatiyeh came under artillery bombardment during the day.
