Winter Holidays May Be Extended by One Week in Punjab

Jarida Report

The Punjab government is likely to extend the winter holidays for educational institutions for an additional week amid increasing cold weather. Provincial Education Minister Rana Sikandar Hayat will chair a meeting at 3 pm today (Saturday) to take a final decision in this regard.

Sources suggest that the extension of holidays is being considered in light of the ongoing cold spell, with meteorological reports set to be reviewed before a final decision is made. Parents have been calling for the extension, citing concerns over children’s health and the extreme weather conditions.

Minister Rana Sikandar Hayat confirmed that the health and well-being of children are the top priority. Earlier, the minister conducted a poll on Facebook to gather public opinion on whether schools should reopen on January 12 as originally scheduled or if the winter break should be extended until January 19.
