Jarida Report

The contradictory past of Muhammad Ali Jinnah.
As promised, further to the previous post, this is purely a matter of personal opinion and not to be taken as an official update. The main contradiction in Jinnah’s biography is in relation to his date of birth. His school records show this to be 20th October 1875, while all subsequent official records show it to be 25th December 1876. This change alters Jinnah’s age by ‘shaving off’ precisely 1 year and 66 days – making him younger.
Where things become interesting is that Jinnah’s entry records at Lincoln’s Inn make him appear to be 19 years of age when he enrolled in June 1893. This would mean that his birth year was actually 1874 and not 1875 or 1876. However, this part remains a dilemma. For the purposes of this argument, I will mainly take into account the dates of 20th October 1875 and 25th December 1876.
Lincoln’s Inn do mention on their website that in those days, one had to be at least 21 years old to be called to the Bar. Jinnah had his call in April 1896, so if the 20th October 1875 date is correct, it aligns well with his call date as he would have been 21 years old. However, the date of 25th December 1876 does not – it places him at an age of 19 years! Furthermore, prior to being called to the Bar, Jinnah had his surname changed from ‘Jinnahbhai’ to ‘Jinnah’. For the purposes of this conjecture, I am assuming that after his call, and by the time he returned to India, is around the period when he may have deliberately changed his birthday to 25th December 1876.
