According to monitoring platform IQAir, Lahore and Karachi are in the top five most polluted cities in the world. Multiple Cities in Pakistan, especially Lahore, have to face heavy smog in the winter season. This is mainly because of vehicular pollution, industrial emissions, and stubble burning. Lahore is second in the ranking with an air quality index (AQI) of 234, categorized as “very unhealthy”. Karachi’ AQI was 182, categorized as “unhealthy” IQAir advised people in Lahore and Karachi to avoid outdoor exercise, wear masks and run air purifiers.
