Philippines hit by deadliest quake in over a decade

Jarida Report

A 6.9-magnitude earthquake struck off Cebu in the central Philippines, killing at least 72 people and injuring hundreds, making it the deadliest quake since 2013. The shallow tremor caused landslides, collapsed buildings and widespread infrastructure damage, while hospitals already stretched by recent storms struggled to cope. Striking at night when many were asleep, the quake intensified its devastation. Rescue efforts continue, with authorities warning that the death toll could rise further.
