The Senate Standing Committee on Industries and Production has urged the government to expedite the development of infrastructure to facilitate the adoption of electric vehicles (EVs). The committee, chaired by Senator Aon Abbas, highlighted the lack of EV charging stations even in major cities like Lahore, emphasizing the need for immediate action to address climate change concerns. Officials from the Engineering Development Board (EDB) informed the committee that a comprehensive EV policy has been prepared and is awaiting presentation to the Prime Minister. The committee recommended sending a formal letter to the Prime Minister to allocate time for the EDB to present its policy. Additionally, a subcommittee led by Senator Saifullah Sarwar Khan Nyazee was formed to suggest an effective EV policy to the government.
