Explosions Cause Two Russian Bridges to Collapse, Killing Seven

On the night of May 31, 2025, two bridges in Russia’s Bryansk and Kursk regions collapsed due to explosions, resulting in seven fatalities and numerous injuries. 

•Bryansk Region: A road bridge collapsed onto a Moscow-bound passenger train, killing seven people and injuring at least 71. The incident occurred near the Ukrainian border and is under investigation as an act of terrorism.   

•Kursk Region: A rail bridge collapsed under a freight train, causing derailment and injuring the driver. Authorities are treating the incident as a potential terrorist act.  

Russian officials have not identified the perpetrators but suspect sabotage linked to ongoing tensions with Ukraine. The incidents have raised concerns about infrastructure security amid the conflict.
