Fifth-Grader Dies After Beating by School Headmaster in Khyber District

On Friday, May 30, 2025, a tragic incident occurred in the Sur Kamar locality of Jamrud tehsil, Khyber district, where a grade 5 student, Khiyal Mat Khan, died after being subjected to severe corporal punishment by his school headmaster, Waqar Ahmad. The assault took place during the morning assembly, where the headmaster reportedly beat the student with a stick on his head, neck, face, and back, leading to critical injuries. Khiyal was taken to a hospital but succumbed to his injuries. Police have arrested the headmaster following the incident.
