On May 21, 2025, Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar met with Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi and Afghanistan’s interim Foreign Minister Amir Khan Muttaqi in Beijing. The trilateral meeting focused on enhancing regional security, counter-terrorism cooperation, and economic connectivity. The three nations agreed to extend the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC) to Afghanistan, aiming to promote development and stability in the region. They also reaffirmed their commitment to the Belt and Road Initiative (BRI) and decided to hold the next trilateral meeting in Kabul.
