Wildfire Ravages Forests and Wildlife in Swabi’s Mountainous Kala Region

A massive wildfire erupted in the mountainous Kala region of Swabi, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, on Sunday morning, devastating forests and wildlife across Gila, Kala, Khoro, and Dara areas. Rescue 1122 teams reached the remote site after a four-hour trek and initially brought the blaze under control. However, strong winds reignited the fire by evening, causing extensive damage. Locals criticized the absence of wildlife and forest department officials during the crisis and demanded accountability. The fire also disrupted power supply, uprooting poles and damaging transmission lines, leading to a 21-hour blackout in several areas.
