Over 50 Countries Reach Out to White House for Trade Talks, Trump Adviser Says

Jarida Report

Over 50 countries have reached out to the White House to initiate trade negotiations, according to National Economic Council Director Kevin Hassett. This development follows President Trump’s recent implementation of broad tariffs aimed at addressing trade imbalances. Hassett emphasized that these tariffs are intended to strengthen long-term economic fundamentals and serve as a negotiation tactic, not a permanent policy.

Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent echoed this sentiment, downplaying concerns about a potential recession resulting from the tariffs. He highlighted that the tariffs have successfully brought numerous countries to the negotiating table, seeking to reduce trade barriers and address currency manipulation.

However, these measures have not been without controversy. The tariffs have led to significant market volatility, with global stock markets experiencing substantial declines. Critics argue that the aggressive tariff strategy could lead to unintended economic consequences, including inflation and strained international relations.

In summary, while the Trump administration’s trade policies have prompted a flurry of diplomatic engagement, they have also sparked debate regarding their long-term economic impact.
