On June 1, 2025, during the PP-52 Sialkot IX by-election, 271 Pakistan Tehreek-i-Insaf (PTI) workers were charged with storming a polling station at Government Girls High School in Sahuwala. They allegedly held polling staff hostage, seized ballot boxes and papers, and attacked police officers with iron rods, stones, and sticks, injuring three. The attackers also reportedly opened fire on police and vandalized vehicles. An FIR was filed under multiple sections of the Pakistan Penal Code and the Anti-Terrorism Act. District Police Officer Faisal Shahzad stated that special teams have been formed to apprehend the suspects.
