10 Heritage Buildings Among 44 Vacated for Demolition in Karachi

Jarida Report

Authorities have vacated 44 dangerous buildings across Karachi’s South and East districts, including 10 officially protected heritage structures, following safety concerns. The move comes after a deadly building collapse in Lyari. According to the Sindh Building Control Authority, 68 buildings are in highly unsafe condition, while 588 are listed as dilapidated. Demolition of heritage sites will only proceed after expert review. Officials stressed that no structure will be razed without approval from the Commissioner or SBCA chief, as survey teams continue assessments across the city.
